Carlos Guedes and his Latin jazz trio set a festive mood for the fifth annual Mission Olé, where more than 250 gathered at the home of Laurie Sands Harrison to raise funds for the Trinity River Mission. Co-chaired by Kate Rose Marquez and Dawn Spalding with honorary chair Caroline Rose Hunt, the night’s biggest draws were the casino games and the live auction, where Brendan Higgins ratcheted up bids for packages such as a Taylor Swift concert experience and a private penthouse at Las Ventanas al Paraíso. Of course it’s never a fiesta without some spicy comida, and Wendy Krispin Caterer delivered with a spread that included a gordita station and Mexican buffet—think red chile and cheese-stuffed pork loin, finished off with tres leches cupcakes.
